To qualify for tax exemption, your donor vehicle has been built before Jan 1st 1973. To have the actual date of production confirmed, i.e. the date it actually rolled off the production line in Germany, write to:
For vehicles up to 1955 : Stiftung Automuseum Volkswagen, Dieselstrasse 35, 38436 Wolfsburg, Germany.
For vehicles after 1955 to date : Customer Assistance, Volkswagen AG, Postfach 3180, Wolfsburg 1, Germany.
If applying for tax exemption you will need to have in writing the exact date the vehicle rolled off the production line in Germany . Note that your vehicle may have been sitting around at the dockside before being imported in the UK, so the earlier the date the better chance you have of it being tax exempt.
