Why Upgrade from Drum to Disk Brakes?

The problem with drum brakes is that they are prone to fade.  Heat produced by friction between the brake linings and drum surface causes a layer of vapour from the friction material to build up, reducing braking efficiency.  This is exaggerated if you drive the car hard, but even under normal use the car can be reluctant to come to a complete halt.  Discs are not only less prone to fade, as they dissipate heat better, they are also free of the initial ‘grab’ sometimes experienced with drums, allowing more progressive braking, less risk of locking up and better feel to the pedal.
